Where will my life be in 5 years?

No one is ready for what there life will be in 5 years. Sadly, we have to encounter it faster than we think. Everyone has dreams for what it will be. Here is what I dream it will be:

In my life in 5 years, I will have graduated from Hanson High with a successful reputation. I will have tearfully said goodbye to my classmates that made every moment of the long, hard school day wonderful. I will walk away from the school feeling grateful for all the educated experiences I have encountered. I will have completed the goal of doing the absolute best I could do on the ACT test. I will have received scholarships for my education that I have put my whole life into. In 5 years, I will be beyond grateful for all the lessons, experiences, and memories Hanson High school has implanted in my life.

Sadly in 5 years, I will not be in high school instead in a college of my choice. I will be attending my first year at South Dakota State University majoring in whatever my heart desires. I really hope that all my hard work education work has paid off, so I will be accepted and living in the Honors Hall. I will have made many new college friends, but will still keep a special part of my life for my high school friends. I will attend SDSU Jackrabbit athletics events regularly and travel home often to spend the quality time needed with my family. Overall, in 5 years I hope to attend the life long dream that has been influenced in life ever since I was born: attending SDSU. Hopefully, off of my dad’s money.

In 5 years, I know I will have grown up faster than I wanted too. I will wish I was still 14-year-old as I am now. As a 14-year-old now, I don’t want to think about the future even as my middle school education is coming to end in a few months. All I can do right now is not rush, but instead wait for the future to come. When is does come, I am going to embrace it as best as I can and be grateful I have a future that I can create myself. Everyday, I will have to work to create this 5 year future that I have planned. I may be writing about my life in 5 years from now, but it will be here faster than I think. In a blink of an eye, 5 years will be here. In 5 years, I will be ready.

Things are always ending and new things are always starting

There are often a lot of thing that end and go by but recently I witnessed a very meaningful end to a chapter of my own life. That recent end was my middle school basketball career. It may sound like nothing much, but it is very special to me in it’s own way. It makes me sad to think I will never have a middle school 8th grade game again. The ending of my middle school basketball career signifies in a way that we are all growing up. It shows us that it is only going to get harder from here.

The end of this basketball season impacts me so much because it shows me how harder you have to work in sports now. You can’t just show up and expect to play with equal playing time. You have to earn your playing time by working hard every single day in practice. You have to put so much more time and effort into your sports in order to make the sports worth the while. Along with that practice gets ten times harder. Even though this is a sport’s season, it can also reference to your real life. You have to work harder, and put more time and effort in your everyday life, not just sports.

With the end of the middle school team, it now means us 8th graders have begun the season of high school basketball. We now play on the “C” team and practice everyday with them. Although it means a new chapter in our life, it also means that us 8th grades will rarely ever play with just us six anymore. We will always be intermixed with upperclassmen and underclassmen. Just the thought of that makes me sad and want to cry. We now have to grow up and work for our successful basketball career.

The ending of my middle school basketball season is a way of being slapped in the face; you have to grow up now; you have to work hard in order earn things; you have accept unfairness. Middle school is coming to an end and high school is approaching. Things end, but new things start. New chapters in life come and go. Life isn’t a piece of cake anymore as it gets ten times harder.

Life is Short and So Am I

I choose this quote because the quote “Life is short and so am I,” relates to my life in many ways. First of all, I am short, like insanely short. You may be thinking oh she’s just saying that; she’s not actually that short. However, no, I am that short. My whole class is about a head taller than me along with many students from lower classes. Not many people believe I am as old as I am. I could pass as a first grader easily. However, I am always looking up to others. Literally.

For the other part of this quote, it relates to my life as well as other people’s lives. Life really is short… for everyone. Before you know it, in a blink of an eye, life is over. This is why you need to take every moment and every memory and live it to its fullest. Don’t let anything stop you from living your best life. Although not many people relate to the physical shortness part of the quote like me, I think everyone should realize that life truly is short.

This quote is important to me because it faces me with two realities: life is short and I am also short. It reminds me to remember to cherish every moment of my life because before you know it, life is over. You have to live every moment like it’s your last. Even though I am short, this quotes reminds me of the importance that no matter how short you are, it shouldn’t affect your life. Even at my level of shortness, I can do anything in my very own short life. Overall, this quote portrays the importance of enjoying life because after all, life is short.

โ€œThat which we manifest is before us; we are the creators of our own destiny. Be it through intention or ignorance, our successes and our failures have been brought on by none other than ourselves.โ€ “The Art of Racing in the Rain” Garth Stein

What does this quote mean to me? In my opinion, this quote means that we create whatever happens to us in our future. We control how our actions will impact out future. No one else effects or create your density besides you. Don’t let anyone tell you how your destiny should go. Make your destiny what you want not what others want. Everyday, we have to wake up and figure out how we are going to create our future. Not another single person should determine your future.

Along with setting our own future, I also think it means that we are the reason we have all of our successes and failures. We bring on the success and failures: no one else could’ve have. You can’t blame anyone else. Not many people are proud of their failures, but I think this quote is trying to tell us that it is okay to fail along with succeed. We should be proud of every failure and success. After all, they both will shape your destiny.

This quote is applied to my life by thinking daily what can I do that will shape my future into a better future. I create my everyday life and actions to impact my destiny in a positive way. I listen to my version of my destiny and I try to not let anyone or anything get in my way of MY destiny. All my of my success and failures have been brought on myself. However, this quote reminds me to be proud of them as they will have an impact on my life. The moral of this quote will apply to my life because it will remind that I create my life, destiny, failures, and successes. No one else does.

The Life of a Cartoon Character

If I had to choose a cartoon character to spend a day with I would have to choose Skye from Paw Patrol. For the whole day, I would transfer into a puppy to experience the real Paw Patrol adventures. The first part of the day would include exploring the Paw Patrol Look Out Tower. We would ride up the elevator, and go down the slide into the cars. After sliding down into the cars, we go flying around Adventure Bay. I would even take a turn flying her helicopter.

In the late afternoon, Ryder would call us to the look out tower for a mission. We run into the elevator and of course, Marshall knocks us all over. We go up and all sit patiently while Ryder informs us of the mission on a really big screen. He informs us that Skye and some other pups will be needed for this mission. Skye and I slide down the slide and hop into her helicopter. We would then fulfill the mission.

After successfully completing the mission, the whole Paw Patrol crew and I will celebrate. We get rewarded with treats and scratches. For the rest of the day, Skye and I will play around along with all the other dogs. I will take another ride on Skye’s helicopter and even try the rest of the dog’s vehicles. We might even take a nap in the look out tower after all the energy the mission took. Overall, at the end of the day, it will have been a successful fun day with Skye.

If I was the Queen of my School

If I was the queen of my school, I would have five main rules. My first rule would be to always be respectful and to never bully. Bullying is a serious issue and should never happen. The punishment for bullying or being disrespectful would be sitting in my office, informing your parents, and detention. The second rule would be starting school at 9:00 am everyday. This would allow kids to get some extra sleep and have more time for school work. With the later start, I would expect everyone to be there on time. After 3 tardies, the punishment will include detention.

For the third rule, all students would be expected to get their homework done on time. Getting work done on time is very important and very capable of doing. The punishment for having late work, would be contacting your parents and possibly staying after school to get it done. As for the fourth rule, I would choose to include open campus for lunch. You could go to nearby restaurants during the time granted or you could eat the school lunch. This way you should never be hungry and always energized for the afternoon classes. However if they were not back by the time given, there would be detention and they would lose the privilege of eating out for two weeks. If it happens repeatedly for an individual student, the privilege would be lost for a longer period of time.

My last and final main rule would be granting a free hour period every other day for each class. During the period they could either go home or hangout in their shared class hangout. All classes would be in pairs of two classes where they would share the lounge. They would have different days so one class could be in the lounge at a time. All classes would rotate days equally. If any student left before the time period or didn’t come back in time, they would face the punishment of detention and losing the privilege for a certain amount of time depending on the situation. These would be my five main rules if I could rule the school.

From the View of a Stuffed Beaver

I am Bucky, the stuffed beaver on top of the projector of the Promethean board in Miss Jansen’s room. I sit in her classroom 24/7 . During weekdays, students of all ages enter the room, some looking happy others looking depressed. They sit down and listen to Ms. Jansen teach. However, they usually just talk all the time. Some kids are well behaved whereas others are not. Throughout the classroom, I see mainly the same thing everyday until about late afternoon and then I just see darkness. It’s gets really scary and boring then. I just wait patiently until Miss Jansen comes back into the room each morning but sometimes its not a couple of days until she comes back. I get really lonely in the dark on those long days.

People may think I can’t feel anything, but I do have feeling you know. I am terrified of heights and how do you think it feels to be all the way up here? Can someone please take me down? Anyways, I feel very stiff and stuffed. I am in the same position all day, everyday. Although I am glad to not be a human because they look very stressed and depressed half of the time. They have to do so much work. Nobody realizes how lonely I am though. I just want to be held and cuddled by a human being. No cares how I feel.

I wish I could sit by the elephant over by the shelf. She is quite cute. I would actually have a friend instead of being so lonely up here. Don’t tell anybody but I have kinda have a crush on her. Only a small one though. One problem though, I think she already has a boyfriend. It’s that man up there. I do wish I could go over there and spend time with her. I try telling the humans but they never listen to me. Hopefully one of them does someday. Don’t tell anybody about our secret, I’m trusting you!

A Letter to My Mom

Dear Mom,

How have you been? I haven’t seen you since what? 2 minutes ago? Anyways, as you know I was sick and missed some school. Well let me tell you, missing school is not fun. For some odd reason, all the teachers decided to pile on the most assignments that day. As a result, I am sitting here after a long day with school and practice doing a ton of homework! Such is life I guess. I will visit with you after I get all this homework done.

I heard you are going to Las Vegas tomorrow. It’s a win-win for both of us because you get to get away from us and party all night long, whereas I get to spend the few days with Grandma. However, while you are in Las Vegas, you are going to miss my concert. Oh well, we aren’t that good anyways. Even though it is only a few days, I will still miss you. Don’t worry about us though, you and dad go have fun and enjoy yourselves. Just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Remember when I dropped my phone outside and it broke for the second time? Oh wait, that was yesterday. Sorry about that. Thank you for finding it for me. In my defense, it fell out of my pocket. How was I supposed to know? Well, maybe after this amazing letter, you’ll consider buying me a new phone. I’ll never spend my hard earned money to buy one; I’ll just live without it one. Sadly, this letter is coming to an end and I have to say my goodbyes. Thank you for your time in reading this letter. Most importantly though, thank you for being the wonderful mom you are. You do so much for me, I could never repay you. You are an amazing person that I got blessed to have in my life. I hope you enjoy this letter and I will come visit with you in about a minute or two.

Love, Erica
